The Zonta Club of Hamburg – Orchard Park will be focusing on service projects this year including working with the Family Justice Center and Kathleen Mary House to assist victims of domestic violence.
We assembled birthing kits for third world countries to provide a clean birthing environment for mother and child. District clubs receive several requests from Medical Women International, Global Links, World Vision and the United Nations for these kits. We shipped 3,000 kits to Nicaragua last year. We will assemble kits again in Spring 2019.
We donated items to the Erie County Family Treatment Court to assist participants in their program. They help people meet the requirements for Family Court. We also donated personal care items to P.A.T.H. Persons Against Trafficking of Humans.
Club members prepare dinner at the Ronald McDonald House four times each year for families whose children are hospitalized.
Our club participated in the 16 Days of Activism from November 25th through December 10th to raise awareness of violence throughout the world. We marched in the Holiday Parade in Hamburg wearing “Zonta Says No to Violence” tee-shirts.
